Aloha Friday!

This weekend is filled with exciting cultural events. I am super excited about the upcoming 3- day celebration of the King Kamehameha Day!     I was up late last night helping my wife starting to make lei for her horseback unit that will be representing the island of Kauai in the North Kohala King Kamehameha Parade.  See #6 below!!  I'll be keeping the streets clean as the pooper-scooper unit, somebody's gotta do it!

Here's a list of the events all happening this weekend on The Big Island!

Check out the annual King Kamehameha Day Celebration Parade on June 9, 2018, at the Historic Kailua Village on the Big Island of Hawai‘i.  It is an exciting day in Kona, there are Canoe races going on in the Bay as the Parade marches by.   My   daughter will be in the water racing for Kawaihae Canoe Club and my wife will be in the parade helping with some  some carriage horses.   This year’s parade theme is “Ho‘ohiwahiwa No Kamehameha,” translated as “Honoring Kamehameha.” The Hawaiian tradition of pāʻū riding celebrates the paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) traditions introduced in the 1820s.

6. King Kamehameha Day Parade

When: June 11

Where: North Kohala and Hilo!

There are two parades on King Kamehameha day, June 11th.  Both events are a full day of celebration and tribute to King Kamehameha.  As I mentioned earlier, We are involved with the North Kohala Parade.  My girls will be representing the Island Kauai so as you are reading this we are probably making lei and decorating our pooper scooper!     Roads close in North Kohala at 8:45 so get in and get a good seat near the statue.  All events are free with great music and vendors in the Park afterwards.

Here is the Link to the North Kohala event> North Kohala King Kamehameha Parade  and additional info on the Hilo event can be found in the link at the beginning of this paragraph.
