There's never a dull weekend in May! Every week is jam-packed with different exciting activities for all ages. For this week, I have compiled some of the best-picked events all happening here on the Big Island! 

Here's our recommended list of events to look forward to this weekend:

1. Help Us Help Puna!  

When: May 25

Join the movement to help Puna! Our brothers and sisters in Puna have been facing natural calamities as new eruptions at Hawaii Volcano send lava closer to the Power Plant. Stop by and donate relief goods at Kona HPM. 


2. Grand Re-Opening

When: May 26

Where: Hilo Ocean Adventures, 1717 Kamehameha Ave Hilo

Have fun this Saturday as Hilo Ocean Adventures launch its grand re-opening event. NEW tours, NEW swim program, NEW service department and free Banana Boat Rides around the Bay.


3. Flameworking - An Introductory Class

When: May 26

Where: Volcano Art Center Niaulani Campus, 19-4074 Old Volcano Road Volcano

Learn how to mold glass and turn it into a beautiful piece of art at Flameworking Introductory Class.  Class fee is $160/$155 for VAC members plus a $40 supply fee. Attendees are asked to wear covered shoes. Advance registration is required and this workshop will be limited to 6 adults. 4. Screenplay Writing for Television and Film

When: May 26

Where: Fairmont Orchid, Kohala Coast, Big Island

Learn the art of screenwriting form the expert Jennifer Grisanti. Jen Grisanti has a Story System that has led 52 of her clients to sell their pilots. Six of them went to series. Jen was a studio executive for 12 years at Spelling Television Inc., and CBS/Paramount. Refreshments are included in the registration fee.


5. Cooking Class with Chef D!

Learn from the award-winning Chef D how to cook like a pro. In this workshop, you'll learn how to make  "Lazy Man" Lau Lau from start to finish. Using ti leaf, rock salt, seafood, chicken & spinach.


6. Bee Biology and the Hive Class

When: May 26

Where: 73-4976 Kamanu St, Kailua Kona, HI 96740, United States

Have a comprehensive lesson on how bees operate with their hives. The typical indoor class setting lecture is limited to 20 people with a fee of $30. 


7. memorial Day Weekend Deep Depth Camp

When: May 26

Where: Deep Freediving Instruction73-4269 kauhale st., 96740 Kailua Kona, Hawaii

Calling all certified freedivers! The 2nd Annual Memorial day weekend Deep Depth is coming this Saturday in Kona. Photos will be shot by freediving photographer Kristin Kuba.
